What to do when the screen is locked after several wrong iPad passcodes

What to do when the screen is locked after several wrong iPad passcodes.

A customer in Ushiku, Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture, asked us to unlock her iPad because she made a mistake with the passcode several times.

The iPad passcode is a six-digit password used to unlock the iPad after turning it on.

The iPad were to be used as POS cash registers, and there were passwords for the POS app and Apple ID, making things a bit complicated for non-Mac users.

Screen is locked and unusable.

At the time of our visit, the passcode seemed to have been wrong multiple times, and the message “iPad is not available” was displayed. Please try again in an hour.

Initialization of iPad 9th generation.

The device in question was a WiFi model of the iPad 9th generation with a home button.

If the passcode is lost, the device needs to be initialized, but this model seems to require a Macbook for initialization.

So I connected my Macbook and iPad, which I had brought with me, and tried to initialize it. (Since you had contacted us in advance, we were able to handle it smoothly. Thank you!!)

Wi-Fi environment is also important during initialization.

Initialization requires a network connection, and I was working with tethering wireless from my iPhone, but it still did not go smoothly without wi-fi, so I brought the iPad back to the office to handle the process.

It was successfully initialized!!

After arriving at the office, I connected to wi-fi and first updated to the latest version. Then I did the initialization.

It took quite a while even in our office Wi-Fi environment, but we were able to initialize it smoothly. (It was the right decision to bring it back to the office.)

We were able to initialize it successfully, and we will be coming to pick it up tomorrow.
