What to do when iPhone charging becomes unstable.
I have been having charging problems with my smartphone and here are the symptoms and how to recovery.
I am using an iPhone 8 and sometimes when the angle of the cable changes while charging, it will not charge.
When I use it while charging, it sometimes turns on and off repeatedly.
I thought the cable was disconnected and replaced it, but the same phenomenon recurs, so there seems to be another cause.
Dust deposited on charging connector.
The hole where the iPhone charging plug is inserted (red arrow in the photo) is always open, so it seems to collect dust easily.
You are not usually aware of this, but if you shine a light through the hole and observe it closely, you will see a lot of dust.
In my case, I clean the dust regularly, about once every six months.
Cleaning Method
It is recommended that toothpicks or bamboo skewers be used for cleaning. Be careful not to use metal or other hard materials, as they may deform the terminals.
Air dusters should not be used either, as they can push dust deeper into the terminals and damage the coating.
Countermeasure
One countermeasure seems to be to keep the charging connector covered. Using wireless earphones or wireless charging to reduce the frequency of connector use also seems to be effective.
It would be nice if there was an easy way to clean it.
